Title: cognos Capabilities function in cognos 8.4.1

Hi All,

Please explain about cognos Capabilities function in cognos 8.4.1 and if i delete pre-defined user/role form cognos namespace wat will happen ...?

Please explain in brief thanks is advance

The user/roles that are introduced after installing are merely an elaborate proposition on how to set up security if you are dealing with a complex security environment. Bit of an example, really. You can perfectly create your own set of users/roles to accomodate your environment, though you need to set both rights and capabilities accordingly

If you are going to change a large portion of the security/capabilities I would strongly recommend that you...

1. Back up the Content store prior to making any changes.
2. Document every single change you make in the off chance you need to back track.

I've seen too many cases where people have fudged the security/capabilities and there was no getting out without a new content store.

Very true. We only add users/roles and keep the existing ones 'as is' .
