Title: Generic Steps for Cognos 10.1.1 to Cognos 10.2.1 upgrade
Post by: Prerna Chaudhary on 21 Aug 2013 09:12:24 AM
Hi,

I am performing an upgrade from Cognos 10.1.1 to Cognos 10.2.1 .

The initial set up i.e. for Cognos 10.1.1 has few customizations  like use of SDK for hiding folders to external users , certain restrictions for end users .

So basically I am looking for steps that should be involved in upgrading from 10.1.1 to 10.2.1.

Also I have few questions like :

1) Will CAMIDs be different for users  if we upgrade from Cognos 10.1.1 to Cognos 10.2.1

2)Will the java libraries change from 10.1.1 to 10.2.1

Please let me know if anyone has done this before.

Any kind of help would be appreciated.

Thanks and regards
Prerna

First thing, 10.2.1 is a new install to a separate directory. (Not an upgrade per se)
That said, your first step should be making a backup copy of the Content Store.
In your new install of Cognos 10.2.1 you will point to the existing (or copy of) the Content store and it WILL get upgraded to the new schema.
If you keep your LDAP config the same your CAMIDs should not change.

Once that is up and running then you can start copying over your customizations and "Upgrading" the SDK stuff to 10.2.1 SDK.

Hope that helps.

anyone could advise if i have my web gateway on separate machine with IIS6. Is the step will be the same?

1.Uninstall 10.1
2.Install 10.2 in old path
3.Any change/update on the IIS entry?
