Not much to go on. Have you looked to see if theres anything in any of the local logs?

In addition to Skinners's suggestion to check the local log files, I have some questions:

1. You mention that the contributor client works OK from your Windows7 system, so how many people are having this problem?
2. Are you aware of any software changes to the affected machine(s) that might explain this behavior?

It was error due to IE files getting corrupted.

Some issue with Windows 7. worked like a charm  on another Win 7 machine.

Thanks a lot  for the reply ...

Hi Eric/ Skinner
I did check on the new updates/packages, they did update some package it seems.
For time being, a spare laptop has been assigned to user.
Have installed the 10.1 Thin client on the spare on running on win 7.. Its working like a charm.

Shall check on updates and post if any win 7 patches which created the issue.

Thanks everyone

We had a similar issue that affected my PC and we narrowed it down to a patch that changed all the IE settings so they were  very restrictive. It took a while to figure this out. In the end we reset the security settings on IE back to medium-low for trusted sites and enabled all the ActiveX settings in the Advanced Properties to solve the problem. The reason it took so long to figure it out was that there was no mention of any changes to these settings in the documentation. We intially ignored that as a cause because of that fact. We were only seeing my successful login in the logs but then nothing else was logged under my user name because I wasn't getting any further than logging into Contributor. Trying to open a cube resulted in a similar error to yours. At that point we started looking at other system related causes and the only recent changes to my system were that single patch (sorry they didn't tell me which one) and an AV update. The AV update was eliminated in less than 5 minutes and then we started comparing my settings to someone else's settings and the answer presented itself.

Maybe compare the security settings of the affected user to some other user's settings and see if there are any differences. Just something to think about.
