This is a very general question for someone being new to COGNOS.

How do I import the metadata into COGNOS 8 from a COGNOS 7 cube?

In Framework Manager, you can run the Metadata Wizard to import metadata. You will need to define a data source connection to point to the cube, then import from this connection. You will end up with a published package giving access to the cube within the C8 environment.

What kind of metadata do you want to bring over?

It's actually a version 7 cube so that should be simple?

So you just want to be able to access the cube? I don't think there will be much metadata present in the model itself.

Since I am new to all this, what exactly is the Metadata? I know that it is "data about data", but can you give me a specigic example of what is contained in Metadata?
