Title: "Standard Error 5" when starting up Controller
Post by: Dev1975 on 09 Aug 2013 04:47:47 AM
Hello everyone,

I have a Customer who is logging in to Controller and after selecting the database, choosing the report to run and clicking the button to preview in Excel, the following message box appears:

Standard Error 5
Source = mscorlib
COM Object that has been separated from its underlying RCW cannot be used

After clicking "OK" nothing happens, so the Customer tries the process again and then the report is displayed in Excel. Anyone have any ideas what it could be? It is a Citrix environment being used, if that helps shed any light.

TIA,
Dev

The only mention of this "COM object that has been separated from this underlying RCW cannot be used" error that I can see (looking through all our old calls) is this one: http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg27018376 (http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg27018376)

As you can read, it is a bug in old (no longer supported by IBM) versions of Controller (8.4 and earlier). It is fixed in Controller 8.5 and later.
Good luck!
