When opening q report in Report Studio which contains a map, I am getting an error message that references several library functions:
CGSErrorAssert:0:Fatal: CGS_ASSERT(bytesRead != -1 && bytesRead == (long) byteCount, "Read failure."); RSV-SRV-0042 Trace back: RSReportService.cpp(657): CGSErrorAssert: CCL_CAUGHT: RSReportService::process() RSReportServiceMethod.cpp(177): CGSErrorAssert: CCL_RETHROW: RSReportServiceMethod::process(): mapGetMapInfo_Request Common/CMFileStream.cpp(96): CGSErrorAssert: CCL_THROW:
The report can still open, even though the error is displayed.  However. if I attempt to open the map object, the error message is repeated.  In addition, the Choose Map pop-up window is blank---no maps.  However, the MAP folder contains files, but Cognos 8 apparently cannot read it.
I deleted some files in the MAP folder that I created, because I want to re-generate them.  After replacing the files with new versions, the error occurred.  Any ideas?

				I was able to solve this problem!  The server had a backup copy of the MAPS folder.  After restoring from the backup, everything seems to work okay now.  Apparently, one or more required files were mistakenly deleted.
I suggest others maintain a backup copy of the maps folder.
