Usually we provide the mail server settings in the 'Notification' section of Cognos Configuration to allow e-mails being sent from Cognos to users.
My client has migrated their mail server from Exchange server to Office 365. So all we should do is to change the server address and port number in 'Notification'..correct? Anybody knows of any problems being encountered using Office 365 or any other setting that needs to be done?
Can you access it using the SMTP protocol?
You can test this with e.g. a telnet session...
Addition: This might help: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2600912/en-us (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2600912/en-us)
Thanks RNA. It worked just by putting the SMTP address in the Notifications. I thought the Cognos app server IP would have to be added to the 365 server as a 'safe sender' but it worked without that.
Ok.. So Cognos is office 365 compatible for sending e-mails :D
Can you Please help to configure Office365 with Cognos10. I am facing an same issue as your were faced.
Further help would be appreciated.
We are having issues with Office365. The configuration test works fine but it won't send an email. We keep getting this error:
Error CNC-SDS-0410 The email message was not sent. Approximate message size: [78 KB] The Mail server returned this error: [[EOF]]
Error CNC-SDS-0335 Error returned from SMTP Server. The error message was: [[EOF]]. The message could not be sent.
Help would be much appreciated. Also note that I have it configured for port 587. I get all green check boxes for the test. If i add SSL it says it can't connect to the server.
In order to fix this we setup relay for office365 mail which work fine with cognos 10.
