Title: Cognos Planning 10.1.1 FP2 fix pack installation steps
Post by: ratoz on 11 Jun 2013 08:38:30 AM
Can any one guide me on the installation steps for Cognos Planning 10.1.1 FP2. I believe it is a straight forward patch update.

Or do I need to install from the scratch?

Hey there,

It's a patch, so it just goes on top of whatever version of 10.1.1 you're currently running.

Ex: if you're running 10.1.1 base you can go straight to 10.1.1 FP2 by running the FP2 installer.

As with any software modification, though, I would recommend that you backup your CS, PS, and application databases along with your analyst libraries.  This is just for disaster recovery in the case that something goes wrong with the install and you can go back, easily, to the last configuration that was functional.

Many Thanks Eric for the info.

Also there are two files named 'CPLAN_CLIENT_10.1.1_Win32_FP002.tar' and "CPLAN_UPDATER_10.1.1_Win32_FP002.tar"

any difference between these two, pls let me know...

The Updater is the update setup for installation on planning servers as well as administrative machines (systems running Analyst or the CAC).

The Client is just the front end rich client java framework along with the contributor excel add-in.  Depending on how your environment was configured, you may or may not require this particular setup file.

So for a standalone setup of Cognos Planning 10.1.1, i just need the FP updater installed on the server.
And the FP client to the cognos planning clients running contributor?

Please verify.

Thanks!
