Title: DB2: Tables missing after successful "cmm_create_db.cmd"
Post by: DTV12345 on 01 May 2007 12:22:15 PM
Gurus,

In advance, I apologize if I am posting to the wrong forum. I hope someone can provide a few pointers.

I have installed Cognos 8 on a MS Windows server. I followed all the steps in the documentation to initialize Cognos Configuration ; my web server is correctly setup (Cognos, cgi-bin, help...) and when I start the Cognos service...the weirdness begins:

a) the "Details" arrow is greyed-out and "cogserver.log" is empty (?!)
b) after a long time, the Cognos service start fails with a message" CFG-ERR-0106 Cognos configuration did not receive a response from the Cognos 8 service in the time allocated"
c) in spite of b), the Services panel ("Administrative tools") tells me that my service was started
d) I checked the Cognos KB regarding b): no other services are running on my server....
e) The creation of my content store DB with "cmm_create_db.cmd" went fine: no errors...yet the CMM tables are missing!!! f) I point my Internet browser to the url for Cognos connection: I get a message "Cognos gateway unable to connect to Cognos server".

I am stumped....Any ideas what I am missing? I have done this install on Oracle about 10 times without problem. This is my first one on DB2. My configuration is:

MS Windows 2003 Server Standard Ed. with SP2
3 GB of RAM / 60 GB HD
Internet Information Server
DB2 version 9 Enterprise Edition
Cognos 8.1 MR2

TIA in advance for any help you can provide.

AB.

I have the solution to my problem:

Though pointing to the correct JDK directory for NetBeans (IDE), my JAVA_HOME was not point to a JRE.

I changed it, rebooted and now Cognos connection starts just fine. Never mind then...
