Title: How do I specify Default Member in Framework Manager
Post by: raj_aries on 26 Apr 2013 12:57:54 AM
Hi Gurus !,

I know that the dimension functions defaultMember & rootMember will return the Default Member and Root Member for an hierarchy. Root Member is typically the highest member. Could you please let me know how & where do I specify a Default Member for an Hierarchy

Regards
Raj

Hi Raj,

You have no control over this in DMR modelled in Framework Manager. Every hierarchy automatically gets an "All" level at the top with a single apex member. You cannot delete this level or get to the member to do anything with it. It is automatically enabled as both the defaultMember and the rootMember of the hierarchy.

Cheers!

MF.

Thanks MF for your reply. I've been searching for the option in FM :).  Can we set defaultMember in transformer or is there a way where I can do that.

Thank you
Raj

Can we set default member for OLAP data sources?

I think I got it..

Open the Categories diagram view of your model, right-click the category whose values you want to show when the cube opens, and click Set as Default Category then publish the cube as datasource & package...please correct me if this is a wrong approach.

Yep - this sounds correct for Transformer. Setting a default member is done in the modelling tool of the OLAP environment, not in FM, so Transformer is the place to do it.

Cheers!
