I have a report that I want subtotal by Equipment Type and Equipment Number. I have grouped by Type and then Number. When I ask for a total it gives me a subtotal by type and summary but no number subtotal. I have tried spanning several different ways, and I have done this same subtotaling successfully in other reports but nothing seems to work for this report. Any help is appreciated.
I don't know if this is still an issue but you may be able to trick your report. You can try to add an extra column after your Equipment Number column and then group it as well. After your new column is grouped then you can try to add your totals and see if you have a summary row for Equipment Number as well. If you do, you can just cut out the new column that you added to remove it from your report.
Just a thought - but it sounds like you should have got your summary row for equipment number just by grouping it.
This issue has been resolved. I used your idea ... I added a new column and used it to substring the equipment number, then grouped and subtotaled on it.
