Title: How to get the selected value of a value prompt and use it is a filter
Post by: Prem Mehrotra on 30 Mar 2013 06:44:46 PM
I am on Cognos 10. I have a simple question.
I want to show Top X Rows where X is a parameter; e, X can change from 5 to 10 to 15.
I have setup a summary filter: rank(Event) <= ?parmx?

Now when I run my query, it shows me a prompt and asks me to enter a value. But I want the value to be shown be a pull down list where values of pull down list comes from a query item. How do I do that?

I created a value prompt and selected parameter name as parmx. But somehow Cognos does not connect this parmx with parmx in query filter and gives me error that cross joins are not permitted.
How do I make the connection? Really appreciate your help?
