Title: Render text item based on active variable
Post by: rnmuralee on 25 Feb 2013 09:34:45 AM
Hi,
I want to change the text displayed in a Text Item based on the value of an active variable. I am trying to have 2 text items and render one based on the active variable value. But I am unable to do this as the active variable is not showing up in the expression box for creating a render variable. Please suggest if there is a way to do this.

Thanks,
Murali

Hi,

Active variables are different from render variables. Unlike render variables they will not appear in condition explorer, they are used mainly for defining the behaviour between objects.

My guess is you have deck and you have not added text item in one card and not in the other card and then you have not setup the behaviour between the objects ie. drop down list,... Just view some practices videos on youtube which show you how to create an active report from scratch.

Thanks,
RK

Hi

I have had good luck using the Variable Text Item to display selected active variables in both 10.1.1 and 10.2 environments.

Hi,

can yu clarify what you really want? Do you want the text item to be rendered based on the value of an Active Report variable or do you want the text item to show the value of the selected Active Report variable? If you just want to show the value of an Active Report variable you should try and use the Variable Text Item, like Ziegenbart suggested.
