Title: Summary
Post by: JuliaM on 15 Feb 2013 08:21:05 AM
Hi everybody,

I have dimentional report, very simple - sales by customer groups, that shows both group and customer. Some customer groups have several customers, while most - only one.
Is there a way to not display summary where there is only one customer per group??

Thank you!

hello Julia,

could you be so kind and descibe your cognos challenge a bit more detailed? I have troubles to understand what exactly the goal is your trying to achieve.

This is how the report looks
Group1 Cust1                    1   1
           Cust2                    3   3
           Cust3                    2   1
Summary of Group1            6   5

Group2 Cust1                    4   4
Summary of Group2            4   4

There is only one customer in Group2, and summary of Group2 contains the same numbers as the Group2 Cust1 line; I'd rather not diaplay this summary

Does that make it sense?

Thank you

are you interested in achieving this with a relational database or DMR/OLAP?
with relational I can help you, but with DMR/OLAP i haven't found a solution yet.

Thanks! I'm working with dimensional. Let me know if you find a solution :)

Hi,

Create a count data item which shows number of cust for the group. Then for the summary in a case statement where Cust count is >1 then summary display. (or) Nest the count to the summary then add the count as filter count > 1. (For some reason I think this might throw an error). Unfornately, I don't have a dimensional model to try the suggestion but, it works in relational.

Thanks,
RK

i've tested what RKMI proposed and this does not work for dimensional data. still trying to find a sollution...
