Title: Current period as default in a value prompt
Post by: jithuv on 07 Apr 2007 10:30:26 AM
Hi,

I want the report when run to display the current period data available in the cube(say march 2007) as default but the report also has two VALUE prompts year and month respectively.

Is this possible ? I try different ways out but in vain.

BTW, data is from PowerCube.

In a PowerCube there is a concept of Current Period. Would it work for you?

Yes,I am aware of closingPeriod, currentMember Functions which are dimensional functions.... I tried that but i am having troubling getting it to be the default .... Let say i create a dataitem with the above function....How can i get the data to reflect based on this item... i want the first view to be based on the current month and then there is a year and month prompt which the user can use to view date for other time periods....

Thank you....

I'd have to say that those requirements are contradictory in nature. Or are you talking about two views on one Report Studio report?

Ok.. I think i should explain... The requirement of the client is that... when the report is intially run the data in the report should be for the current month.... the report has two value  prompts year and month.... Now the user will also be able to see the data based on the value he selects .....

Let me know if this can be done...We are trying different ways but not able to come up with the desired output....

So, in a way, you need an optional prompt that will default to current month?

Yes,Is there anyway i can disable one of the prompts after intial run , then i think i can achieve this or is there a way out using javascript which can enable this?

Please send in your suggestions and ideas

Please share your solution.  I have a similar requirement using a powercube.
