Title: cognos.cgi / cognosisapi.dll issue with IE
Post by: t1701 on 16 Dec 2012 02:39:33 PM
Hi,
I'm setting up a new server running Windows 2008 and Cognos 10.
The server was originally set up to use cognos.cgi. I have changed Cognos and IIS to use cognosisapi.dll instead.
On the server, if I open IE and enter http://localhost/ibmcognos, Cognos starts fine using cognosisapi.dll.
If I open IE on another server and enter http://servername/ibmcognos/, Cognos starts fine using cognosisapi.dll
When I use IE on my laptop and enter http://servername/ibmcognos/, I get an error "404 - File or Directory not found". The URL has cognos.cgi and not cognosisapi.dll.
If I enter http://servername/ibmcognos/cgi-bin/cognosisapi.dll, Cognos starts fine.
So, I'm thinking something is cached on my laptop that I needs to clear out.
I've cleared the history in IE, restarted my laptop, restarted IIS but my IE stills directs to cognos.cgi.
Is it a caching issue and what am I missing?

But it still sounds like caching.
Try CRTL+SHIFT+DEL and uncheck #1, check 2,3,4 and retry...
Also restart IIS 7 (I've had caching issues with that also )

Have you changed cognos.cgi to cognosisapi.dll in both index.html and default.html files?

Have you check the CGI and ISAPI modules are loaded and enabled properly ?

please let me know incase u are getting proper results incase of "CGI"Also use the fully qualified names Http://<<Servername with domain>>/VD/VD/cgi or isapi.
