As the subject says; anyone know which version of Planning to use with Bi 10.2? It seems like the latest release of Planning is 10.1.1 FP1, will it be compatible with BI 10.2?
If it's consistent with past releases, you probably cannot have an integrated environment with BI 10.2 until Planning also releases 10.2. I would guess there are issues around different versions of the shared common code.
Significant changes were made to the planning installs for 10.1.1 and the intent was to make it less likely that a new version of planning would be required to work with a major BI release. My understanding is that 10.1.1 FP1 SHOULD work with BI 10.2. That said - how to tell that from the IBM website is something of a mystery. Id be interested if anyone can confirm or deny this from real world experience.
Spoke too soon - saw this come through yesterday

Hi, I had almost the same question and saw your url to IM note.
I'm affraid I did understand that if I'm running...let's say COGNOS BI 8.4.1 and planning 8, that I upgrade COGNOS BI 8.4 to 10.2, planning won't work with the 10.2?
So if we're not willint ti migrate planning right now (and we're not), do I have to keep my 8.4 version up so planing could still ive and that users will have to use the old uri pointing to the old version of BI if they want to use Planning?
I'm looking for confirmation, although I fear it.
BI 10.2 and Planning 8.4: it is not intended to work together. You might get it to work but it's not supported. I doubt it would even run, though.
Correct - you will need to leave your old environment up and running for Planning to work.
I'm affraid so, not the best way to consolidate servers and maintenance...
still unclear,
so BI 10.2 needs Planning 10.2 and will not work if any of the two are on different versions?
if so, is there Cognos planning 10.2 available now?
I can only see version 10.1.1 on SAC.
