Title: Active Directory or OpenLdap with cognos 10?

Opinions please. And please share step by step configurations if have. thanks alot.

Description: Currently installed cognos on windows 7, using IIS as web server. Is windows 2008 server required?
                    3 roles: Adminstrator, Lecturers and Students of total 200 users. Clients nodes should be able to acces cognos through different network and different computers.

Hi,

If you have installed Cognos in your personal machine for learning and evaluation then Windows 7 is fine.
If you want to use Cognos for your enterprise I would suggest you to go with Server OS on a Server Machine. Though Cognos works fine on windows 7, it is better to for a server.

For accessing people from outside your network you have to create the virtual directory on IIS of that machine which is opened to external network.

Hi,

Windows 7 is not a supported platform for running the Cognos 10 server software. It's fine for the client tools like Framework Manager and Cube Designer, plus any web browser access, but that's all. You might be able to get it to run on Windows 7, but you won't get any support...
