Title: Aligning columns of two crosstabs
Post by: Greg on 07 Sep 2012 09:49:41 AM
I have two crosstabs, one below the other, that have the same row and column edges but just different measures.  I'm trying to figure out how to align the columns so that it looks like a single crosstab.  Any ideas?

I've attached a screenshot of what it currently looks like.  I would like the columns for the years to be all the same width without having to explicitly define a fixed width for them.

Thanks.
Greg

You can specify the size and overflow width of the crosstab as a percentage. Then set size and overflow width of your rows as a percentage.

For example, set the size and overflow width for both crosstabs as 100%. Then set the size and overflow width of the row members as 25%. You can adjust the percents to suit your desired look.

I think percentages are sometimes more flexible to use than exact pixel designations. Not sure if this reduces any of your anxiety over setting specific widths for things  ;)

I think you could create the percentage of Total as columns in the 1st crosstab itself.

However, if you want to keep them as seperate crosstabs and align the year columns of both crosstabs, I have found that
unlocking the objects and specifying the width in pixels of the text/number works perfectly instead of speicfying the width of the column itself. I had done this for 7/8 crosstabs right below each other in a project.

I second cognostechie on doing the calculation in one crosstab.  It's always better to get everything in the same crosstab.

In case you have to use two, here is another source for 'hacking' two crosstabs together:

Thanks folks.  The reason I don't want to put both measures in the same crosstab is that I want to minimize the width, especially for the PDF output.  I've gone ahead and set the column widths to something workable and they're lining up nicely.

Cheers,
