Title: Printing fails in Cognos 10.1.1
Post by: RubenvdLinden on 20 Aug 2012 05:26:30 AM
We've just upgraded our production environment from Cognos 8.4.0 to Cognos 10.1.1.
Everything seems to work just fine but the printing:

RSV-DST-0018 The print request failed. Verify the version of the print processor on the application server.
RSV-DST-0014 Unable to deliver the output of the report. See the run history details for more information. Ensure that the required services are started. Ensure that the user account is configured to distribute the output in the requested manner.

The Adobe Reader is installed on the server (9.5.2) and the printer seems to be working correctly (testpages work just fine).

Any help will be appreciated.

The IBM Cognos service was running on the Local Service account.
Running Cognos with a designated service account (member of the local administrator group) seems to have fixed the problem.

Cognos 8.4 had no problems running on the Local Service account, so I wonder what's the difference.

Hi RubenvdLinden

We are migrating from Cognos 8 to Cognos 10.

As you mentioned I ran the Cognos services with the administrator ID but still facing the same isssue.
RSV-DST-0018 The print request failed. Verify the version of the print processor on the application server.
RSV-DST-0014 Unable to deliver the output of the report. See the run history details for more information. Ensure that the required services are started. Ensure that the user account is configured to distribute the output in the requested manner.

Awaiting a reply.

Thanks,
Khya

There are 2 things you might try:
1. Printing fails if the Cognos service account has not run Adobe Reader before. You need to logon to the Cognos server with the service account, launch Adobe Reader and accept the license agreement. If you don't, printing from Cognos will fail.

2. Because we normally use IP printing (instead of printer shares), all our printers that must be available on Cognos are created locally on the Cognos server.
If you're trying to print to printers that are shared on another machine, you probably need to run the Cognos service o a domain account. Ensure the domain account is a member of the local administrators group and has sufficient rights on the machine that contains the printer share.

I hope this helps.

Thanks for your reply ...

The Adobe Reader is running in the Protected mode and I have disabled it by the setting of HotKey in the Adobe Reader settings.

It works fine now... :)
