Title: Putting data in to Consolidated Dimension
Post by: brianknott on 06 Aug 2012 12:47:00 AM
Hi.
I have a dimension that is a hierarcy.  Can I override the rollup of totals.  I using a manaul method to calculate totals for some leaf node and I want to override the automatic calculation.

I'm presently using a TI process to calculate the new value.

Yes you can override natural hierarchy consolidation with rule calculations. You can't override with TI calculated values as these would be posted as data and therefore subject to hierarchy aggregation which is what you are trying to avoid.  If you do your calculation logic in a rule rather than TI then this would probably be the best solution.  You could calculate in TI and post to another cube or another location in the same cube and use a rule to pull from that other location to override the consolidation but this then represents more complexity, either way you need a rule to do what you want.
