Title: Business Insight and TM1
Post by: tobias.v on 23 May 2012 06:25:04 AM
Hi,

I'm new to cognos and very new to cognos insight, so I just want to teach myself how it works.

What I want to do is just set up a custom demo from the beginning based on a TM1-model, not with preloaded data as it is provided by IBM.
Until now I'm only able to connect to TM1 and import the dimensions, but when i want to get the data from a cube, there are no views to select, even though there are views in TM1.
Is there something that must be configured in TM1 to get these views?

--

My second problem is, that I can only see one TM1-Server, but to check the configuration for the problem above I just wanted to create a connection to the IBM-sample SData or Planning Sample.
What do I have to do, to connect to these TM1-server?

I hope you can help me

kind regards

tobias

Cube views in TM1 are not selectable for use in reports - you just see the dimensions and the measure dimension. You can get access to cube views in Business Insight, but to do so you need to add your TM1 server to the relevant atom file and restart your Cognos 10 service. This just allows you to drop the views in as widgets in Business Insight - nothing more.

You can add data source connections to as many TM1 servers as you like. Just go to the Admin Console and add a new data source, select TM1 as the type, then plug in your server details.

Regards,

MF.
