Title: Cognos Shared Environment Standards
Post by: dcbonnet on 13 Feb 2007 11:06:23 AM
I wanted to see if people had any input on the different types of standards/best practices a company should create in a BI shared environment.  For example, how to set up new users (security), how to deploy, naming stardards, etc, etc . . .

The most important thing here is that one teams "stuff" doesn't have any adverse reactions on anothers "stuff" (play friendly) within Cognos Connect, be it simply seeing folders/packages that don't belong to the team to screwing up the environment because a team deployed incorrectly.  My main concern isn't around actual BI development standards, for example modeling a FM package, but portal standards since we all share the same portal (for example what and how they display that package in Cognos Connect).

Thanks in advance!

Also, be sure to check out the proven practice documents on the Cognos support page. There are a few public documents addressing this topic.
