Hi Guys,
We have installed Cognos 10 on a 64bit VM running Windows 2008 Server. We have downloaded and installed the 64bit installer and setup Cognos which is working ok. However we are having issues with using the Framework manager to create packages. We can create data sources however we attempt to create models via the "Run Metadata Wizard" regardless of the data source type (e.g. Tm1, MSSQL, DB2). When it gets to the "Metadata Wizard - Select Data Source" window and select a data source and click next it displays the following error message "QE-DEF-0368 Unable to decrypt user name and passwrd credentials from the content store. Review and save the Cognos Configuration settings to configure your reporting environment".
Keep in mind we were only able to find a 32 version of Framework manager on the IBM passport site and therefore assumed that there is no 64 bit version.
I have tried the following solutions:
a) deleting csk, encryptkeypair, signkeypair directories and resaving the configuration - Didn't work
b) Tried adding both Java paths to JAVA_HOME environment variable
Anyway other ideas of things to try?
Thanks,
Damien
Are you using FM on the same machine? I think you will need the database client libraries (32 bit) installed on the FM machine to allow it to connect to the data source.

Thanks for your reply MF. To answer your question, yes FM is on the same machine as Cognos Server, however the datasource is MSSQL on a different machine. It simple uses the MSSQL ODBC connection.

Have you set up the ODBC in the 64 bit or the 32 bit ODBC console? It will need to be the 32 bit driver in the 32 bit console. Look for odbcad32.exe on your server (probably within C:\Windows\SysWOW64) and run this - set up your ODBC as a System DSN.

I'd suggest regenerating your crypto keys on the FM install.
Are you able to test the data source connections successfully from Cognos Administration? Are you able to test the data source connections in FM?
