Title: Table Layout Publish for Reporting
Post by: bi4u2 on 20 Apr 2012 07:50:22 AM
I do a lot of Report Studio reports based on Contributor table layout publishes. Often I need  to have the same cube published with a different 'dimension for publish'. Is there a way to have one cube published with separate dimensions for publish. For example, in some reports I might want the Timescale as Columns, but for other reports I might want Versions as Columns. The only way I have been able to do this is create a second cube and run d-links to copy the data into the cube.

Hi bi4u2,

I don't know if this will help, nor do I know the complexity of your reports.

Are you building the reports manually or are you using the generate FM model extension within the CAC?  You can create multiple publish containers that are associated to a single application.  One publish would have your timescale on columns, the other could have Versions.  You can then run this manually selecting the appropriate container, or you could setup a macro to run both publishes.

I'm making some assumptions here, so use this information how you will.. ;)

Hi Eric, I am creating the FM Model manually. Would creating a separate publish container create an additional database?

It would, yes.

So, the route of adding an additional cube to allow you to maintain a single container may be the only option, but thought I'd throw my 2 cents in. :)
