Title: Modelling SSAS Cube in FM
Post by: bonosungho on 16 Apr 2012 01:01:24 AM
Hi,

I successfully brought SSAS cube to the framework manager but it seems like I cannot re model or make any modification in the cube.

If you look at the photo below, I don't know what the icon indicates but I cannot make any change to the cube like I can with relational query object.

But I can still view it in report studio and with report studio I am able to see the list of dimensions and measures.

Is this just a nature of Cognos that we cannot model analysis service cube once we bring it into the framework manager?

Thanks

Yes, the MS model can be used within Cognos metadata, but thats it. You can see it as a sort of shortcut from Cognos to SSAS

Perfectly normal. Cubes are already dimensionally modelled using their own proprietary metadata, so all you see in FM is a pointer to the cube - nothing else. The one exception to this I am aware of is SAP/BW, where the metadata of the cube is exposed in FM.

Cheers!
