When creating a new package, I need to create a new data source. I get to that screen in the metadata wizard and the New button is greyed out. I can select one of the already created sources but not create a new one. I know it is just a permissions thing because when I log in as the admin, everything is available.
Can someone tell me what group I need to be under in order to get that button turned on? Better yet, can someone point out where this is documented? I'm sure it is some type of Administrator but which one of the 10 or so different administrators.

That gives me the ability to manage data sources within Cognos Admin, which is a good workaround for now. It still does not enable the New button in the Metdata wizard. At least not for me.

Giving myself full rights within Data Source Connections, I can delete data sources but can't create new ones within Cognos Admin.
Default permissions at Administration > Configuration > Data Source Connections give the "Directory Administrators" role write permissions (as well as R,E, SP, T).
If the default permissions haven't changed I'd have thought being a Directory Administrator will be enough to permit you to create a new data source connection.

I was not part of the Directory Administrators group. Only the admins were part of that group.
Everything works. Even the New button on FM works.

I think I need to find the document on who should belong to what roles and what their rights should be.

Hmm, we NEVER generate new connections through FM. We keeps things centralized through administration to keep things tidy
For what it is worth, we also never generate data sources from FM (or Transformer) but always create them in Cognos admin. It has not been a problem for us, but then we only have around 40 data sources.
can someone give the detailed steps of how to add sample report datbase in FM, publish them and make them available to use in report studio in cognos 10? This is required to install and use cognos 10 on my PC. thanks...
