Title: DPR-ERR-2107 - The User Capabilities Cache cookie cannot be decoded
Post by: cadams on 21 Mar 2012 01:55:58 AM
Hi All,

This has been annoying me for a few days and have finally got a fix.

Problem:
In Cognos 10, Trying to open Windows IE aginast multiple Cognos Environments, ie, wanting to have a IE session for Cognos Dev and another for Cognos Prod. (works fine in provious versions of Cognos and works fine using IE9)

Error:
DPR-ERR-2107 - The User Capabilities Cache cookie cannot be decoded

Solution:
For Each Cognos Environment do the following:
1) Open IBM Cognos Configuration on the server

2) Establish the "Domain" and "Path"
2a) From the URI gateway "http://Server1.abc.com.au:80/ibmcognos/cgi-bin/"
2b) Domain = Server1.abc.com.au
2c) Path = ibmcognos

3) Open <Actions> then <Edit Global Settings>

4) Click the <General> tab

5) Under Cookie Settings enter the details for "Domain" and "Path"

Restart the Service.

Do this for each environment you have. ie. Dev, UAT, PROD

Hope this helps.

Hi cadams,

I am having the same issue, I tried to follow your instructions but I can not find the  <Edit Global Settings> option in the Actions Menu.

I am running C10 on SQL 2008 , IIS 7.

Any insights you can provide will be appreciated.

Thanks,

glo...

You should be looking at Cognos configuration on content manager computer. Also, please note that you need to use /ibmcognos for path value. If you have multiple content manangers, this setting should be done on all of them. Hope it helps.

All,

We have had the same issue as well.  Doing the proposed fix with server.domain.com and setting the path with / does correct the issue but results in breaking your ability to log into your dispatcher at http://dispatcher.domain.com:9300/p2pd/servlet/dispatch

It also appears to be affecting other areas of the system.

we are running a multi server environment:

1 - Content Manager
3 - Dispatchers
2 - Web Gateways
Series 7 Namespace

we also found that you must specify the domain on the LDAP as well with the same path setting.

again, setting the server will correct the issue but will break other things.  IBM needs to look at this issue.

I get this error message on all the 4 instances.

it is basically retaining the cookie information.

Has anyone implemented this successfully - of course the easiest way is to close the browser window and open a new session

But if you would like to keep all the 4 tabs open - What is the best solution

Thanks

I know this is an old thread, but another work around on this error is to use File -> New Session in Internet Exporer.  Using the new session will allow for multiple sessions at the same time.  It does open up a complete new window as well.

Thanks,
