Hi,
I wonder if anyone can explain, how Cognos 8 BI (8.3) works when I download/exports a report (Analysis Studio report or a Report Studio report) to Excel 2007.
Why I am asking, is because I have a report that is taking rather long time to run and when the result is shown, I would like to export the result to Excel. Then it is taking the same long time as the first time I run the report in Report Studio or in Analysis Studio. Doesn´t Cognos save the result and export it to Excel? Or must Cognos run the query again when I try to export it to Excel?

I hope you understand my question and I am looking forward to an answer.

I suspect the query is getting re-run in order to populate and build the excel file.

That was my suspicion as well.
Do you know if there is any work around? to do the export to Excel more efficient, faster?
