Title: Portal Tabs & Rendering Graphs
Post by: jenna on 15 Feb 2012 09:29:17 AM
Has anyone seen this behavior in C10.1.1?  The first time I view a portal page report, it renders fine.  As soon as I click to another tab, then back, it no longer renders the graph portion of the report.  If the report has a prompt, and I change the value, it then renders the chart again.  It does show the crosstab/detail data regardless, it's just the graph image that seems to be "lost".

Does it exhibit the same behavior in a different browser? IE. if your using Internet Exploder, try Firefox.

This is a bug in Cognos, and it's been raised with support. So far there's been no answer.

I'm working on a bandaid solution until it's been resolved. I'll post the solution once I'm sure it works mostly bug-free.

PaulM do you know if this is specific to a Database?

We have 10.1.1 and 7 different tabbed dashboards - all with Charts and Graphs and we we do not see this problem at all, but now I am paranoid :)

We are running our Content Store on DB2 9.7
Currently running 10.1.1 on Windows 2003, IIS7 - Migrating this to AIX6.something and Websphere for both App and Web server.

The client that is experiencing this is on Oracle and Windows Server 2008. As far as I can see, Cognos is removing the chart from the cache when the user exits the tab, but then forgets to refresh the page when the user returns.

I forgot to post the solution I mentioned. Here's the link (http://cognospaul.wordpress.com/2012/02/22/cognos-10-1-1-bug-charts-breaking-when-switching-between-tabs/).
