Title: data source
Post by: guthikv on 07 Feb 2012 02:28:41 PM
Hi all,

we are using a data source directly to the production DB (oracle) where we have to write some real time reports against it. This is done using the SQL object in Report Studio.

We we drag a sql object, we have to embed the sql and select the data source from the list. My question whether we can prevent the Report Authors to use that data source. As an adminstrator, how can I prevent access to this data source for all the report authors?

Please let me know.,

Thanx

Use data source signon. Rather than specifying a signone use the LDAP signon. Provided your DB is tied to your LDAP.

Thanks for the reply. I looked into the signon for the data source in Cognos Connection located under Configuration tab, it has "Diretory Administrators and Everyone" groups associated with this sign on in the data source.
If "Everyone" is removed, will it solve the issue?

There are certain real time reports that consumers run and will those reports be affected too?

Please let me know.

Thanx in advance.

Yes.

I suggest you have a read through the Admin and Security guide.
