All - I just installed Cognos 10.1.1 and have Mobile installed as well. I have downloaded and installed the "IBM Cognos Mobile" application for iPad.
Questions.
1. When prompted for a Server, what is the value I should be entering?
2. Is it http://<server name>/ibmcognos?
Any insight is much appreciated. Thanks.
Once of my users get the the following message:
"The operation couldn't be completed. (NSURLErrorDomain error - 1012.)"
The expected URL is the gateway URI as defined in your cognos configuration - most likely:
http://<servername>/ibmcognos/cgi-bin/cognos.cgi
Are you running 10.1.1 on your server, and if you are using IIS have you edited the module mapping to add allowPathInfo="true"?
MF.
When you are using the native app (One downloaded from the App Store) use the regular URL as MFGF mentioned.
http://<server>/alias/
or http://<server>/alias/cgi-bin/cognos.cgi
Default: http://<server>/ibmcognos/
When you are accessing the "Web App" via a browser on the mobile device (From the Mobile Install guide, ig_mob.pdf):
- using a Web application (iPad, Android, BlackBerry PlayBook, and iPhone)
With the Web application, the IBM Cognos Mobile client components are not
installed on the tablet or device. Instead, users configure and run IBM Cognos
Mobile using a Web application which they access using one of the following
URLs.
– For the default IBM Cognos BI location, type http://servername/ibmcognos
and, when prompted, select the Mobile portal or the desktop portal
– For the CGI gateway, type http://servername/ibmcognos/m
– For an ISAPI gateway, type http://servername/ibmcognos/m/isapi
I was able to get it to work, however the only downfalis we cannot use single sign on.
Has anyone been able to get single sign on to work with cognos mobile?
No. There is no SSO functionality from a mobile device as you aren't "logging into" your network. The best you could do is get a pw manager application for the device. Even then I doubt it would include support for the cognos app.
No - I don't think that's possible. Imagine the security implications if the mobile device was lost! :)
MF.
I insatalled cognos mobilie in IIS gateway and works fine, but will it support with websphere as gateway?
Hi,
If you're using Websphere as your Application Server (instead of Tomcat) then yes - it's supported. For web servers, you would be looking at IBM HTTP Server in place of IIS if you want to use a Blue Stack.
The supported environments are here (10.1.1)
http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg27021368#web_servers

MF.

For accessing Cognos from Ipad app, did you make my cognos url as SSL or did you login onto your company network, access cognos mobile from the app?
I have cognos mobile installed on single server, and trying to access from ipad.
Please let me know. Thank you.
GRIM/MFGF,
Installed mobility and launched the URL also, while logging in to namespace getting "INVALIDA NAMESPACE ERROR" AAA-AUT-011. but i am able to launch the normal web url
What version of the app are you running? What version of Cognos 10 is on your server? What version of iOS is on your iPad?
Cheers!
MF.
