Title: FM 8 versus 10
Post by: blom0344 on 20 Dec 2011 09:59:41 AM
To be honest I expected a conversion step when opening a 8.4.1. Framework with Cognos 10.1.1, however it simply opens.  When I save as a C10 version and compare the 2 model.xml  files then the only differences are:

C8:

<project xmlns="http://www.developer.cognos.com/schemas/bmt/60/1" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xsi:schemaLocation="http://www.developer.cognos.com/schemas/bmt/60/1 BMTModelSpecification.xsd">

C10:

<project xmlns="http://www.developer.cognos.com/schemas/bmt/60/3" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xsi:schemaLocation="http://www.developer.cognos.com/schemas/bmt/60/3 BMTModelSpecification.xsd">

.cpf files are identical.

My best guess would be that C10 simply took 8.4.1 and merely changed some splash screens in case of  FM.  Would this imply both up AND downward compatibility?

Officially... Absolutely not. Nope. No way hose. Out of the question. Downwards compatible? Ha ha ha ha ha. Non. Nein. No.

Just between us... Shhhh. It seems to work. Don't tell anyone though :)

Que? No comprende.

Where I come from (Englishland), an H sounds like an H and a J sounds like the first name of Mr Z. That's my excuse, and I'm sticking to it! :)
