Title: Delivered Reports are Huge in Excel format
Post by: Cognostradamus on 30 Aug 2005 10:24:56 AM
Because ReportNet creates XML files readable by Excel, rather than actual Excel files, some reports delivered by email in Excel format are huge (10 times larger or more than an equivocal Excel file).  Has anyone determined a good method to reduce the size of these files.  My users are not happy about receiving 10 MB emails, especially for only a couple thousand rows of data.

Lots of fun.  I just received an email from Cognos Alert about something called Cognos Office Connection, and am looking into it.  Maybe it is an attempt to address the Excel issues ???

Cognos Office Connection is a way of grabbing data only from ReportNet directly into Excel, but it only works for XP and 2003. You can also publish back to ReportNet if you have appropriate permissions.
