Title: how to configure stand by content database?
Post by: venkys4u_ on 07 Dec 2011 03:09:17 AM

I heard from a DBA guy, RAC supports for database failover mechanism it can easily switch over the stand by content database. So it could the job of DBA and cognos admin dont have to work on this.

In this case how could it be if the DB is SQLserver or anyother DB?

can anyone say how to configure the stand-by content database?

thanks in advance!

venky4u,

to my knowledge there is no mechanism to switch when fail over, you have to manually change the configuration to point to new database(content).

Fail-over capabilities are highly dependent on the database vendor and version, as well as the infrastructure you have in place. Most of the 'enterprise' databases have ways to achieve this. If you want to know more details about how it works, refer to the particular database vendor's documentation.
