Title: Access Catalogue in Impromptu
Post by: DarrenS on 08 Sep 2011 04:34:04 AM
HI,

We have quite an old set up, using impromptu 6.3 and the people who originally would have dealt with this issue have left the company a few years back. The program that populates the database that the catalogue queries has been updated resulting in a new database being created, unfortunately no one knows the creator credentials to edit the catalogue to point to the new database. Is there a way that the password can be found or reset or is there another solution available to get it to point to the correct database?

Thanks
Darren

If you have lost the creator password, it's not easy to recover.  I think the Cognos support guys at IBM have a secret way of doing it, but it's not published anywhere (for obvious reasons) :)

It might be easier and quicker to create a new catalog and replicate the work within it? Impromptu 6 dropped out of support a looong time ago.  You can see how much work would be involved by generating a content overview report, which will document everything defined in your catalog.  If there's not too much, you may be able to recreate the catalog and repoint the reports to it in a fairly short space of time.

Regards,

MF.
