with the introduction of Cognos 10(.1) i could read in the official guides that it is possible to do an upgrade vom C8 to C10 without the need to do a "bigbang". No, it should be possible to access content from both worlds (the meanwhile upgraded content from C10 and the not-yet-upgraded content from C8) from ONE portal. That means to me ONE Cognos Connection.
This - in my opinion - only could mean that you install C10 parallel to your C8 installation, with an own content store.
But then? I never got hands to a manual for this case. I never saw details how to do this?
Or am i completely wrong and this whole thing works completely different?

Yes - you will need to have both Cognos 8 and Cognos 10 installed concurrently, using different content store databases. As long as you configure Cognos 10 to use different port numbers and differerent virtual directories than Cognos 8, it's otherwise just a standard install.
Once you have C10 running successfully alongside C8, you can follow the steps in the document below to get access to content from both instances through Cognos Connection in Cognos 10:

Cognos 8.4.1 is also ready for MVC, Cognos 8.3 and Cognos 8.4 require
updaters to be applied before being able to take advantage of MVC.
