I have built a report in Report Studio that seems to run fine if ran straight to Excel. However, if I attempt to let the report run to HTML, as it's default to do, the hourglass just turns and turns and turns. :o Is there anything in the report design that causes this? ???
There are other reports that share the same package but do not exhibit this same anomaly. Help is appreciated!!!
I'm assuming Cognos and the Database have to deal with the same calculations when generating a report, regardless of the output format.
That said, it could be a browser related problem. Try it on both Firefox and IE. Also, try running it on PDF to see if something different happens.
I am using IE9 since being issued a new laptop with Win7 as the OS. We tried Firefox when I first got the computer but Report Studio will not even generate an instance of the report structure in Firefox much less allow you to run the report.
I am not completely sure how I can pinpoint within the report what, if anything, is preventing it from rendering in HTML. This is particularly weird because when a report renders in HTML, it is only rendering the first page of the report whereas Excel must render the complete report before you are able to see it in Excel.
