Title: Externally Rolled Measures
Post by: mike_o on 21 Nov 2006 03:57:27 PM
Hi everyone,

I need to show a measure in the cube without any rollup applied to it (no sum, avg, min etc.). I was told that the externally rolled up measure feature can do it for me. I found the related topic in Transformer help and created a cube with externally rolled up measure and a single dimension, which seems to work. I also added another dimension containing a single level -> year and this dimension does not show all of it categories, only one year shows up.

Anyway, it seems that the help topic on externally rolled up measure in transformer is not enough for me to get a good understanding on the ins and outs of the externally rolled up measures. Does anyone know of any source on deeper info on externally rolled up measures?

Pls help.

Thank you,
Mike ???

There was one article on Support Link which covered it quite extensively, but I do not recall it exact location.

Anyhow, the bootom line is, that if you need an externally rolled up measure you have to provide a value for each possible combination of all levels in your model. Otherwise it will become static or N/A.
