I have upgraded a report from 8.2 to 8.4 report studio but the report that takes 10 minutes in 8.2 is taking 4 hours in 8.4.
I have tried checking the tabular data for individual queries for both 8.2 and 8.4 but that takes the same time >:(.
I am using a conditional block for displaying either chart or the crosstab.
I have a chart and a crosstab in the report which use the same query to show the same data in different formats :-X .
i also tried changing the aggregate function for the measures and data items being usd in the crosstab and chart query but then it doesn't seem to give me any data.
im not able to figurs out what and where the problem is.

are the two sql's the same? might be a problem if you don't have the 8.2 version's sql saved. you'll have to somehow have an 8.2 dispatcher to get the 8.2 sql.
were there any system level patches (for example, hotsites for your client's cognos version) that may have gotten missed out while upgrading to 8.4?
what happens if you delete the conditional block and render only either the chart or the crosstab on the report? Does it still take as long?
can you recreate the report(pain in the backside, I know..but leave out prompts etc. that you don't need. just recreate the barebones version with enough to toggle the conditional block appropriately) and does the same issue persist?
