Title: Performance with UpFront
Post by: jhunta on 26 Aug 2005 02:40:38 PM

Has anyone come across any performance issues with UpFront?
Our reports run at lightning fast speeds locally, but painstakingly slow over the internet.
Any performance tweak suggestions would be appreciated immensely.

By locally, you mean Powerplay client on PC's ? or Upfront running on intranet ?

By internet, you mean accesing reports in Upfront from a remote location?

If Upfront runs fine over your intranet, then it is your remote connection that is the problem. If Upfront is slow on your intranet, then check the RAM of your server. I would recommend 2 GB atleast.

I have also noticed considerable performance degredation between impromptu client and running the report thru IWR.  Roughly takes twice as long!!

cheers,

Couple things:

1. Enable HTTP compression
2. Tweak Upfront templates to replace some HTML code with JavaScript. Take a look at an article "Putting Upfront on an HTML diet". It was publsihed in SupportLink.

No, but I have recently noticed a BUG in Series7 making IWR run extremely slow.

Hi Darek

Is that bug acknowledged by Cognos, if so could you share with us the bug number and workaround if any.

Thanks
