Title: [SOLVED] Creating IQDs for Teradata
Post by: aroscoe on 12 Oct 2006 03:41:35 PM
Has anyone encountered issues generating IQDs out of Framework Manager for Teradata or other database systems? I have been successful in generating an IQD for SQL Server and Oracle, but against Teradata the process provides no error yet does not generate an IQD. In the Externalized Query Subjects portion of the window, the subject id and the method are present with no path listed.

The Cognos Support KB doesn't return anything on this subject, so any help would be appreciated.

I have successfully used FWM in CRN and C8 on a Teradata system.

Are you using the TD ODBC driver? What version?

You have choosen "IQD" as the externalize method (just like you would have for SQL Server, etc), right?

I'm not sure which Teradata ODBC we are using, but I don't think that is the issue.  We did find that it seems to be related to if the FM session is actively connected to the database. This is also not unique to Teradata as we were able to reproduce it when connected only to an Oracle database.

Also - doing something like a test datasource does not keep the connection, but doing something like retrieving test rows from a query source does allow successful IQD creation when attempted following the test.

Not sure if this is something that should generate an error in FM, but sure seems like an error should be generated or a notice that you need to log in to the database to generate the IQDs.
