Dear All,
Hi!
I'm a newbie in Cognos & using Impromptu 7 v.2. I want to create a cascading or conditional prompt but I cant find the solution.
I want to use a prompt for "Products" which will be dependent on another prompt for "Product Category". In the report I want to select the Category first & depending upon Category, the product list should be displayed.
So if I select "Peripherals" from category prompt, next prompt i.e. Products prompt should display me only values related to Peripherals category like "Ethernet 10/100", "Ethernet wireless", "Gaphics XYZ", "Sound ABC123" etc.
If Peripherals then
|
|
--- Ethernet 10/100
--- Ethernet wireless
--- Gaphics XYZ
--- Sound ABC123
if Electronics then
|
|
--- Game Console
--- Home Audio
--- X Game Box
Only.
Thanks in advance.
Cascading prompts are available in Impromptu. If you go to the online Help, Index, type in Cascade or something similar you should get up the detailed instructions you need. Plan what you want to do first and the syntax of the prompt at each stage and then follow the instructions. Good luck.

Thanks a lot BlueBird!
I got the idea now. but it seems more lengthy & space consuming here in Cognos.
In BO , while creating a universe (same as the catalog), we use to put a condition on higher level object in object (column definition) than is on lower level (for E.g. in Product definition, we add filer for prod_category using a prompt. ) & it works absolutely fine. no need of multi-reports cascading together.
I dont find multi-value selection in catelog prompt at report level. is there any way to enable it? it this work, we can create cascading promt at catalog level & can be used by any report.

Kaivalya.
