Title: Your licensing organization: BA versus PA authors?
Post by: PolzovatelCognos on 28 Apr 2011 01:26:51 PM
Greetings,
Please share your licensing layout in your organization. I.e., how many Business Authors do you utilize in comparison to Professional Authors? What is the more popular license type? We have an issue in regards to everyone wanting to Author reports with the Professional Author license and since these are the more expensive and scarce at our organization (we have more Business Authors than Professional Authors), we are wanting to promote the use of Business Authoring (Query Studio) to those users merely creating reports for their own use. Report Studio is preferable for creating more complex professional reports. Hence, we are wanting to grant this license type to only those Authors who have the role of publishing reports out to others. Please share any Query Studio encountered limitations and/or any suggestions in regards to this.
Thanks in advance.

It depends upon how Cognos is being used in the company.
Our business users are very data savvy so we have a lot of business authors so they can get the data they need without limitation by report authors.
Our current license is 105 query studio and 20 report studio.
