Source Value is used to populate the levels with data whereas Category Code is used to assign a name to the Categories formed during the build.

So, Source value gives what we see in power play and Category code uniquely identifies a category. For e.g, if City level has 2 cities of the same name, then City name can be Source value and City code can be Category Code

Not neccecarily. It depends on which field you asigned to source value and category code. What you see in Powerplay is the 'Label' property. If nothing is assigned to 'Label', then you see source value in Powerplay. By default, Transformer assigns the source value to the category code too unless it encounters a duplicate value in which case it adds a '~' to the value.

I would suggest read the User Guide for better understanding of how Transformer works.
