Title: Cognos 10 Migration issue!!
Post by: PRIT AMRIT on 11 Apr 2011 01:55:28 AM
After upgrade, whichever report is having conditional layout(condition variable based on reportouptput format)  is throwing below error while validating in Report Studio. But report is working fine when executed from Cognos Connection.

Just want to check whether it is an issue with Cognos 10 or environmental ??. you can create a small report with conditional layout based on reportoupt format and check if u face the similar issue?.

Thanks

Nice to know I am not the only one having issues after upgrade to 10.1, specially the formatting issues (property, conditional variables etc)

I could convince the management into believing that these are new features to encourage the developers to enhance their troubleshooting skills  ;)

We are in the process of migrating from cognos 84 to Cognos 10. And so far I have encountered the following issues:

1) Measures that have aggregate rules defined in them in FM are not working in Query Studio. The report throws an error if these measures, and other measures(that dont have 'aggregate rules' defined in them) are put in the same report in Query Studio.  So far there has been no resolution from IBM on this issue.

2) Null & Zero suppression is not working in Cognos 10 reports. Our charts show empty series even after setting null suppression on, crosstabs show rows & columns with zero values. These reports used to work fine in C84. I had to filter out data in the report query to hide the rows and columns in our reports.

3) When viewing a cube in powerplay studio, if we click the browser's back button(to undo an action) it results in a 'Page not found' error in IE. Firefox browser is able to handle it without any errors. So far IBM has no answers for this issue.

4) When creating custom subsets, sometimes the subset in created but it is not visible in the dimensional list. Browser hangs too when this occurs.

5) Extra whitespace( or empty space) is present on list prompts. I had to hard-code the height of the list prompt to make it behave more like Cognos 84.

6) Exporting a cube view in Excel 2007 results in totally incorrect numbers and all formatting has disappeared(This has been accepted by IBM as a defect)

7) Extra whitespaces appear in report output (be it list or Crosstab). For some of the reports, I had to rewrite the report in order to get rid of the whitespace.

For me, this is anything but a smooth & seemless migration!!!!
