Title: In how many methods we can take content store backup

Hi All,

      can any body tell me ,i am new to this, In how many methods(Ways) we can take content store backup...nd give the steps how to do the same..

There are couple of ways to do it: you can do Content Store database backup (you will need to get with your DBA on that). Also, you can do full public content export out of Cognos Connection and store big zipped file somewhere on network or directly on your Cognos server. You can even schedule it to do this on regular (weekly, by-weekly, monthly, etc.) bases. You can find help on how to to do export in Cognos Administration Guide.

Keep in mind, that in both of those methods you will have to restore completed system and not a single object at the time. As alternative, you may need to build to another Cognos system just for that purpose if you want to do single object import.

i tried export method,nd it is fine.  how can we do in the second method,can you elaborate that in  steps .

If you're talking about database backup, then it depends on database type. But with any types, look for DBA around you, ask them, they would know that. In my company (and I'm pretty sure in many others) we (Cognos admins/developers) don't have an access to DB to do full backup that you needed there.
