Title: Difference between Summaries and Member Summaries Functions
Post by: brain1e55 on 10 Jul 2006 04:43:04 AM
Would you be so kind to explain me the difference between these two terms? When I should use common summaries (i.e. total expr for report) and when I should use member summary function?

And, by the way, where I can find any tutorials on this theme? On support's site I was not able to find some descriptive info that could be more comprehensive that one in cognos8 documentation...

Thanks.

Anyone correct me if im wrong.....

I think summaries are for use with relationally modelled datasets, and member summaries are for use with dimensionally modelled datasets

Ooph... I think so too, but there are too many unclear issues in the official documentation. I'm very upset about it.

Does anyone knows about any official or unofficial sources of knowledge about complicated themes on C8 RS - please share.

10x!
