Title: Open Source BI
Post by: cognosfreelancer on 07 Jul 2006 09:15:41 AM
May not be the most appropriate post in this forum  :P

Does anyone have experience with open source BI tools that at least partly meet some of the power and capabilities of Cognos ReportNet.

The only one good one I know of is BIRT but it seems no where near Cognos in capabilities.

Thanks
NKT

Hello Administrator ( or Cognoise godÃ,  ;D )

Good to hear from you.

Thanks for the note. I will check it out.

I have changed my work recently to start (hopefully) working on SAP BW.

 OS BI products:
Pentaho – http://www.pentaho.org
GreenPlum – http://www.greenplum.com
Jaspersoft - www.jaspersoft.com
Eclipse/BIRT - http://www.eclipse.org/birt/
Jpivot - http://jpivot.sourceforge.net/
The Bee Project - www.bee.insightstrategy.cz/en/index.html
OpenI - www.openi.org
PALO www.palo.net
SQL Summit - www.sqlsummit.com/trends/OpenSourceBI.htm
Breadboard BI - www.breadboardbi.com
Spago BI - http://spagobi.objectweb.org/

Pentaho is most mature and developed one. It rivals Cognos 8 BI with rather interesting results.
