Title: Namespace Types in Cognos Configuration
Post by: vetteheadracer on 07 Jul 2006 03:58:31 AM
Hi,

I am thinking of changing the setup of a Namespace as it has a type of NTLM which means it uses the underlying operationg systems user profiles for authentication when signing on to ReportNet.
I have a number of options for Namespace types but cannot find anywhere what the different types mean.

Under Security=>Authentication=>(right click) New Resource=> Namespace
The list of types is here:
Active Directory
Cognos Series 7
Custom Java provider
LDAP
Netegrity SiteMinder
NTLM
SAP

Our current Namespace was setup by Cognos to be an NTLM Namespace which I assume means it uses the NT Local Machine security profile i.e. the Groups and Users found within Computer Management.

I assume Cognos Series 7 means it would use an Access Manager profile to manage the users and roles.

Any help on the other namespace types would be very helpful.......
